Aurora Programme (Eng) (Fr)

 

Aurora is ESA’s first step in human space exploration outside the low Earth orbits. Through this programme ESA will elaborate a long-term plan for human exploration of space, with Mars as its main objective and the Moon a very likely intermediate step. Credit for pics: ESA.

2009-2015 : Flagship automatic missions, collection of samples on Mars
2015-2020 : Decision to launch a human mission to Mars and planning
2020-2025 : Launch of robots to Mars with possible outpost, possible human mission to the Moon
2025-2030 : human mission to Mars

Aim: study the biological environment on Mars
3 spacecrafts: Mars orbiter, descent module, Mars rover
